West Main Street

Prior to reconstruction West Main Street included heaved sidewalks, diseased trees and inadequate lighting. TO Design LLC's plan replaced all walks, trees, lights and trash receptacles with ones that will serve the City for years to come.

Lesson's learned:

- Street trees need to be carefully selected for varieties that will not damage new concrete walks.

- Lighting levels need to strike a balance between being overly bright and too dim, to address safety concerns.

- Street tree planting pits need to be adequately drained to avoid drowning the tree roots.

- Expensive tree grates and guards are unnecessary.
