Project Details
In 2017, the East Lyme Parks and Recreation Department joined forces with the Miracle League of CT to build a Miracle League field in southeastern Connecticut. To Design developed a master plan for the proposed field — the second of its kind in the state and the first in the area — to aid in their fundraising efforts.
The field is located behind Flanders Elementary School with easy access from I-95 and I-395, and will serve families from southeastern Connecticut and western Rhode Island. The Miracle League of CT provides opportunities for Connecticut’s children with physical and cognitive challenges to participate in recreation, educational and cultural activities in an accessible, nurturing and noncompetitive environment where families can come together to cultivate new friendships and experience the joy of play.
Phase I construction of this regional athletic facility was completed in June of 2020 and features a poured-in-place surface accessible to children in wheelchairs and walkers and will serve not only as a baseball field, but also a space for lacrosse, soccer and football. Design development is underway for Phase II which includes an accessible playground, restroom/storage building, and gateway entrance.
